Gsync monitors prices will drop like bomb on Jan 15th or at least align to their freesync equivalent

I read somewhere that it's the hardware they use to make gsync so pricey. Unless those hardware got cheaper I doubt the price will drop that much.

Buying an expensive G-Sync monitor is a bad idea right now.

It's probably also worth waiting a few weeks to see what Freesync monitors perform well with VRR enabled.

How is this compared to the Alienware AW3418DW?

Exactly what I need. In for one. Even if there may has a price drop coming, I am ok with it even with a further price drop. 34 inch curved with G-sycn at this price range ($700) is hard to find. G-Sync is enabled by including a chip in the construction of the monitor, FreeSync uses the video card's functionality to manage the refresh rate of the monitor using the Adaptive Sync standard built into the DisplayPort standard. I prefer the hardware over the software management.

OK I bit. Been watching for a few months and didn't quite have the funds for the Christmas Costco sale... but hey tax season is right around the corner right?? Cheapest it's been so far!

Now for a graphics card to drive it.... Be interesting to see if my OC R9 290X w/ i7 6700k OC to 4.6Ghz will drive it using DX12.

Hardware tends to heat up and throttle, freesync all the way, my gsync monitor was straight trash

Of that is a trend, then there must be plenty of evidence of it happening and it being widely reported. Can please provide said evidence?

This is the updated X34 "P" version that uses the same panel as the AW3418DW. The later has a thinner frame, better out-of-the-box color gamut, and is a little more expensive.

First time hearing of it myself and I've done lots of research into gsync and continue to read about it.

Is this pretty much the only thing that rivals the aw3418dw? Being 34" ultrawide with 120 hz and gsync? Waiting for the price to drop... Come on....
