  • Designed specifically for video monitoring cameras (dash cams, surveillance & security cams, CCTV, body cams, & more). Continuous recording up to 25x longer than speed-focused cards (based on internal comparison tests with Samsung Cards) gives in-class endurance up to 26,280 hours on the 64GB model.

The prices keep dropping on these, and now you can pick one up for under $20.00 - a rather substantial drop from the last time these were posted. That's only about $2 more than you'd pay for the inferior (but still decent) Sandisk version of a 64gb high endurance card.

I don't know how long it will take for the first nay-sayer to show up, but it shouldn't be too long. To those who do not understand the difference between memory cards specifically designed for high write-cycle endurance and/or just want to argue that a standard card is perfectly fine for video surveillance applications, please go ahead and keep using a standard card. Just know that you're taking a higher risk of not having your data available when you suddenly need it most. Personally, I want to make absolutely sure that when some brain-dead idiot causes an accident, my dashcam will provide the necessary evidence to exonerate me from liability.

For $5 more than buying 2 of these, the 128 will provide a 5 year warranty instead of 3 years, as rewrites will be half of what will occur over time with a 64.

This card isn't made for speed. It's made for reliability. Think surveillance footage like in a dash cam. It will be writing over the card many many times. A regular card will more likely wear out and be unable to write data after a short time. This card is made to allow for many read-write cycles and keep on chugging.

Yup, exactly. I bought 2x 32GB and 1x 64GB last week at these same prices.

How is this a PRO model when it's maximum write speeds are only 30MB/s?

The EVO Select have 60/90MBs for 64/128GB cards and they' re cheaper, am I missing something here?

Very true. Most people do not understand read/write cycles of flash memory.

according to samsung's specs that's not entirely correct.

The 64gb supports 26280hours (3 years) of 26mbps recording and the 128gb is rated at 43800hours (5 years). If it's truly half then it should be 6 years of recording.

If you do an hour/dollar calculation. Then 2x64gb is 1,314 hours/$ while the 1x128gb is 973 hours/$. The 64gb is better value.

Even if you exceed the rating (which will be impossible in a dashcam, as you'd have to run it 24/7 for 5 years to even meet it), Samsung will still warranty the thing within 5 years, not 3.
