I don't think REFURB4LESS is a good name for a business planning to sell new items. It just creates questions. Is this new, or refurbished?

There is no ultraportable of that size with DDR4 memory available today, because no laptop supports LPDDR4 memory yet (which is what this uses - but LPDDR3).

No intel processor supports LPDDR4 memory at this time. Intel's Canon Lake (which isn't released yet) will be the first to support it.

So even the XPS 9380 and X1 Carbon announced last week still use LPDDR3 memory. Standard DDR4 is just too much of a battery waste for laptops of that size, where battery life is a big deal.

Yes - bigger laptops today support full DDR4 memory, but then you're giving up a lot of what this class of laptop is about.

Essentially, having "old DDR3" memory is misleading, because there's nothing newer available for any laptop in this class.

Is it a Good deal? How long does the battery life have? 1yr or 2yr. Surface stuff is nearly impossible to replace batteries

if you don't mind that it's the older Gen7 processor then it's a great price.

i don't have surface laptop but the battery on my 3year old Surface Pro 4 is still going strong if that helps.

most ultraportables ( Xps 13, X1 carbon, surface , most mac books, etc..) do not have user replaceable batteries so you'll have to weigh tradeoffs.

Iris pro graphics for a little bump to the gpu. Decent for gaming at lower resolutions. Better than just about every laptop with 8th gen integrated gpus.

It's a very good price even if it's the 1st Gen surface laptop. I got the 2nd Gen I5 8/256bg. Which I paid $900 for. It's a very well built and premium feeling device. Lacks USB C tho.

In my experience with similar deals, seller insist it's new based on how much of warranty is left. Typically more than a year where new items are exactly 1 year. I pointed out the packaging details of why it's not new and seller refunded me like $100. I would only buy if you can return for 100% refund+shipping and look for tiny details in packaging to make sure its new and sealed. Buy one from Best buy without opening to return to compare packaging if you have to.
