Bought this on the last one. Been using it for just over a month now. No major issues. Its wireless so sometimes I get a tiny bit of distortion on the screen but i can still see fine. Hopefully it holds up. Not bad for $70.

Thanks! My dad wanted this exact one for Christmas. On a hunch, did a search on SD and saw it was on sale almost half a dozen times in the past year...so I've been waiting, and it paid off lol.

I wonder if you can attach this to the front of the car?

I dont see why not. You could attach it on top of the car too to check the weather.

I don't see why not. It attaches via a sticker, and people are using them with 20ft trailer, so no reason it shouldn't read through/around an engine block.

Lots of reviews saying the screen cuts in and out... anyone else have more experience with this unit?

I bought this last January for $63. The screen does cut out all the time. I basically only use it when I am backing up to a trailer and need to see where my hitch is. I certainly wouldn't try to use this daily.

Autovox does have other models like TD2 and CS2 which it says are "digital" wireless .
The digital wireless ones don't interfere with Bluetooth devices in car.(not sure how true)
I bought a Cs2 model from newegg for $85 dollars.
It's working fine since past 2 weeks in my accord.
Just FYI, i got it installed it at geeksquad @bestbuy for $50.

Bought this about a month ago when on sale. Had to also order an extension harness. I installed it on my Trailblazer. It says "wireless", but it still took me 2 days to install and "Wireless" saved me from running 1 wire. Overall it works ok. When it's wet out, the signal sometimes breaks up, but worth what we paid for it.

Yes it's wireless between the cam and screen, but there are plenty of wires. In my extensive experience with this one, it basically needs line of sight past 10ft. I have this installed on a 33ft camper. The distance from transmitter to screen (which is the receiver) is about 25ft. It works maybe 10% of the time, only when I'm making a left hand turn (everything is on the left (drivers) side. What I've done to make this actually work is ditch the antenna it comes with, run an extension up the camper and mount and external / outside rated antenna on the tongue of the trailer. This cost about as much as the camera did, and was a heck of a lot more work. So my advise.... Short car or truck, just get a wired one. If you're using this for something that isn't attached to your car/truck all the time (trailer/camper), get it, but be prepared to customize. At the end of the day, I'm very pleased with it. I can fully see behind my camper now and the camera / screen quality is quite good (color could be a bit better, but resolution / definition is good), however I am not remotely happy with the claims that it can go as far as they say it can. In my experience it cannot. Maybe with clear line of sight, but not when it travels through anything.

The non-digital signal kills the deal for me, along with the many unhappy campers. If you use other Bluetooth stuff that will likely cause interference, you should look elsewhere.

I have this on a vehicle and it does cut out from time to time. It also picks up on signals from other backup cams while driving.
