This was a front page deal in Q4 and was cheaper than the Amazon lightning deal today.

It is back. Finally picked one up.

Looks like the thermapen, which I think is the gold standard. Any idea how this compares, it's a good bit cheaper.

Why is this worth $10 more than the normal javelin instant thermometer on Amazon?

The PRO is about 1 second slower than the Thermapen according to this

why not just get a thermoworks thermopop for $29 whenever it goes on sale? It's $34 normally, a second slower than the MK4, and is usually ranked pretty highly.

I bought its smaller brother PT12 from Amazon lighting deal for $15! If you are a serious cook, it is a must.

This is equivalent or slightly better to the ThermaPop in features, with the benefit of the adjustable probe.

I got the PRO from Massdrop and there's really no reason to pay triple for the Thermapen, unless money isn't an object. Don't get me wrong - the MK4 is great. This is just 98% of the product for a lot less.

Massdrop? Is that like Mass Genie? Got burned by the Genie already, so I may be out unless someone can convince me otherwise. I try to stay open minded to try to get the best deals, but I've been more selective lately.

I've used similar pens, if you cook a lot, especially meats, I've found that a leave in probe with an alarm is the way to go. For roasts, chickens, turkeys, etc it saves you from opening the oven and losing heat/moisture. Also you only poke it once. There about the same price as this.

Got one of these the last time around and I'm VERY happy with it so far. Big, clear screen and very fast. only possible caveat is that it was quite a bit larger than I had anticipated. Worked out fine, but worth noting.
