Southwest Airlines Chase Visa: 2019 Companion Pass after 4k spend within 3mo

+103 Deal Score
75,457 Views
Earn a Southwest Companion Pass, and 30k points, with just one credit card application:

https://www.southwest.com/html/ra...index.html

I understand the two card method is still better for most folks to have the Companion pass through 2020 but some of us can't open two more Chase SW Visas.

As mentioned in original post, it is possible for most people (as in those who haven't *been approved* for more than 5 credit cards *that are reported on their credit reports* in the past 2 years) to get a companion pass for 2019 and 2020 by applying for two Southwest credit cards, and meeting their minimum spend, as described here: https://slickdeals.net/f/12590818-southwest-rapid-rewards-cards-promo-possible-companion-pass-for-2019-and-2020

Please note $149 or $69 "annual fee applied to your first billing statement." mentioned in Southwest website.

So if i cancel my current southwest Plus card, then I can apply for the southwest Premier card right? cause i haven't receive card bonus for Premier in the past 24month lol
Chase considers all of the personal Southwest cards as part of one card family - if you have gotten the bonus for any of them in the last 24 months, you are not eligible.

I believe this offer works best for our situation.

Terms: This product is available to you if you do not have a current Southwest Rapid Rewards Credit Card and have not received a new Cardmember bonus for this card in the past 24 months. This does not apply to business card and employee credit card products.

We should be good if we've cancelled our Plus/Premier cards and under 5/24.
I'm planning to apply once I verify I'm under 5/24.
Have you confirmed that if you cancel the Plus and apply for Premier it will work even you received card bonus for the Plus within 24month?

You can earn CP for any year where you accumulate 110k points in a calendar year (and they qualify as CP points - for example transferring points does not count towards CP).

I posted links to the 50k points for 2k spend in flight offers in a different thread but got mod reported because somebody thought they were referral links. Pm me if you want the 50k/2k links. They are NOT referral links and only enable you to get a better promo than the 40k/3k + 20k/12k currently running for personal cards.

Ymmv on whether these work when not in in flight wifi but posts here on SD and on flyer talk forums reported success.

EDIT: please do not PM me. hopefully the links here will not get deleted.

splash: https://creditcards.chase.com/a1/...?CELL=6T8J
plus: https://applynow.chase.com/FlexAp...PROMO=DF01
priority: https://applynow.chase.com/FlexAp...PROMO=DF01

The splash is no longer working so I'm not sure how you can verify that the apps are still for the 50k points / $2k spend, but I don't think they would use the same link for a different promo without killing the link. YMMV though since they released this 1 year pass promo for the same cards and I don't know how they deal with promos and links (although the app for the 2019 only CP has CELL=6PNF, which is different from the in-flight links I got yesterday)
Thanks Again

FYI .. 2 card deal boils down to 2 years with 5k spend in 3 months, with 110k points
I thought they no longer allow multiple southwest cards per individual? Has anyone successfully registered two new cards in 2019?

But we don't know if this offer also includes the companion pass, correct? Anything about that in the confirmation email?

edit - guess I can answer my own question! the companion pass is with the priority card, not the plus card that you applied for

You would need to add this to the Business Card

Ohh I see! Great way to get the card with lower annual fee plus more bonus miles than what was linked in the 2 card companion pass thread. Thanks!

This is great! I hate annual fees cards but the Priority card (only) seems to pay off for itself as long as you fly once a year. Websites say that each SW reward point is worth 1.5 cents. So 30K points = $450.

See the math below (apologies for the format didn't turn out as I wanted but hopefully you're able to follow through). Keep in mind, this doesn't include any additional points you would accrue by making purchases with the card.

YEAR 1 Points Dollar Value
Initial Signup 30,000 $450.00
Initial $4K Spend Bonus 4,000 $60.00
Annual Bonus 7,500 $112.50
Annual Credit $75.00
Annual Fee $(149.00)
TOTAL $548.50

YEAR 2
Annual Bonus 7,500 $112.50
Annual Credit $75.00
Annual Fee $(149.00)
TOTAL $38.50

YEAR 3
Annual Bonus 7,500 $112.50
Annual Credit $75.00
Annual Fee $(149.00)
TOTAL $38.50
