I just bought an echo. Never had smart lightbulbs or plugs. Any suggestions on which one to get first? Or get one of each?

Wemo is easy and great. I use it wtih a Google home but still same use case. The plug is great for space heaters and fans. Or even lamps.

A smart light bulb is easy and moveable. I find I have nearly nothing that I want to control with a plug that isn't a light. If this is your first smart home device, a bulb is the easiest to get used to IMO.

The bigger the brand name, generally they are more user friendly and refined, but many work similarly.
The one recommendation is once you start buying, you probably will want to stay with the same brand so configuration will all be done in the same location.

Can we really use with a Space heater?

I bought one of those Honeywell 360 heaters using my Kohl's cash from Blac Friday and used it and it worked fine when connected directly to the wall outlet.

But as soon I started using it with wemo switch old generation tat I had at home (the huge one that blocks the above outlet if used on the lower one) the heater seems to be not heating the room as good as before.

I know there must be multiple factors effecting the heating but I read online and on the manual that we need to connect the heater directly to the wall outlet without anything in the middle for optimal performance. Some articles even mentioned fire hazard if we use smart switches for space heater.

Hard to confirm weather this is actually happening or not until I get proper explanation for it.

Guessing the relay in the switch isn't built for a sustained resistive load for a long stretch of time.

Looks like I'm not a "select customer." I wonder how they determine.

It show me the ad, but code SMART10 doesn't work. I must be one of the select customers. Good find anyway, though!
