I haven't had this issue with my Sonos system. It's likely a network issue. Your music stored on your phone may be at a higher bitrate than the music piping in from Spotify. If your network connection is poor, it's more likely to skip. Sonos is pretty finicky when it comes to the network. The products set up their own mesh network and need to be placed somewhat strategically or hard wired with ethernet. I would contact Sonos as they have network diagnostics they can run to help you fix the issue.
It's not a network issue. I have my Sonos sub hardwired to my router and everything played fine for years up until about 4 months ago. I did contact Sonos and sent them multiple diagnostics and spent hours on the phone troubleshooting. Sonos even stated the following to me: "We are aware this is an issue, but unfortunately, as of this moment, it's the nature of Apple iOS..."

If you go to the Sonos Community website you will see thread after thread referencing this issue and every thread has different users chiming in that they're experiencing the same issue. You will also see multiple times where the Sonos staff acknowledges it and responds, "We're currently investigating an issue with playback from iOS devices..." and although they provide suggestions such as purchasing a NAS, turning off Airplay, not letting your phone lock, etc., the users confirm that none of their suggestions worked. Also, a lot of the users that are experiencing this issue claim to be engineers, IT professionals, or have even hired A/V experts to resolve the problem and have been unsuccessful. So it's not just people who aren't tech savvy.

I see from the comments in this thread that some of you aren't experiencing this problem and that is good to know, but I just wanted to give a heads up to those thinking about entering the Sonos ecosystem and planned on playing music that is stored on their iPhones. You might want to go to the Sonos Community and check the amount of threads on this issue and then decide for yourself whether you want to start purchasing Sonos.

I dig my sonos one...but I hate that I can't add it to the multi room audio groups with Alexa. Big buzzkill for me since they sound better than a regular echo.

Wasn't familiar with Amazon Warehouse only selling used goods.
While purchasing USED items in Amazon warehouse. You're taking a gamble as some items are used and damaged BUT a few are brand new & unopened. The packaging is just damaged or worn out.

Gosh., Im glad you brought this up.. This is the most accurate statement made about Amazon Warehouse.. I love regular amazon , use it daily (literally) but I have had a nightmare experience with warehouse.. I purchased a Bushnell Elite scope $500 and received the correct box with a $30 walmart cheapo scope in it.. I also purchased a Mavic Pro that did not have the battery !! And both were "like new advertised".. They insinuated that I was not telling the truth about the scope.. I hope yalls experience is different.. But I will NEVER buy warehouse again..

I'm very good with technology but generally confused about how to set up speakers.

1. I have my house wired for in-ceiling speakers.
2. What can I buy or what type of speakers or switches do I need in order to use speakers over wifi? Links would be appreciated
3. Will this have any use for me?
You could get a amazon echo dot and connect it via Bluetooth or 3.mm audio cable to your stereo.

I love my Sonos One pair and Sonos 5 for my living room. Airplay 2 works well with my Apple TV, I just have to keep changing the audio output. Does anyone know how to keep the output on the speakers and not default back to HDMI?

Your sub is hard wired to the router but are your speakers wired? Have you pulled your network matrix to see the connection quality? If not, you should. If it isn't all green, that's your issue.

Any better ideas for a bathroom speaker? I love the bass on HomePod but I'm scared the moisture might mess it up.

I misspoke. My Playbar is hard wired to the router, but not my sub or the rest of my speakers. Everything shows as green, but for some reason, music stored on my iPhone still skips to another song during playback. It will play fine for a minute or so and then randomly change to another song. I did try pulling my network matrix and also tried resetting and reconfiguring everything while I worked with the Sonos support to troubleshoot. Like I said, the Sonos support acknowledged that this is an issue that others are also experiencing, but they didn't have any real solution. And when I went to the Sonos community for help, I saw thread after thread discussing the same problem. I do appreciate you trying to be helpful though.
