I'm guessing refurbished = customer returns due to multiple dead pixels

I had to buy 4 new ones total to get ONE good one. So maybe half end up being sold as refurb's or open box. I would think for a refurb... you would need to buy 10 to get one good one.

Thanks for the valuable comments. I will also be away from this and wait for the new ones to be back on sale again.

Update: bought one to see how it does.

I bought this open box at BB and it was perfect except the box was torn to bits. Also, I've bought multiple refurbished 24" versions of this monitor with no dead pixels or problems. If you have any problems with it you should be able to return it in-store at least.

Depends. If this was actually refurbished by dell and comes with 3 year warranty ( I suspect this might be a typo) then it's highly likely some tech actually tested the new panel before putting it in, therefore it's more likely to be a perfect panel than a random retail one.

However, if it's geek squad refurbished I don't trust it at all.

Looks like a Dell refurb with 3yr warranty still intact so snagged one from the Best Buy website. Worst case I can return it to the store if there are issues.

Dead pixel comment just seems ignorant. No way of knowing what quality this monitor is in, could be perfect - could be complete shit.

Easy 15 day return policy, and 3 year Dell warranty if you decide to keep (with Dell customer service being quite good).

1440p, 144hz, G-sync for under $300 is ridiculously cheap. Too cheap not to roll the dice on.

I don't think the warranty is 3 year. I think they details section was just copy/pasted. Looking at refurb monitors on dell.com they are all 90/100 day and most others on best buy are 90 day.

I guess when you get it you can register it and see what dell says, and just return it if it isn't 3 year.

I'd grab this in a second if I had verification it was actually 3 years, but I'm leaning towards doubting that it actually is.

Nvidia is going to start supporting Freesync soon with Pascal GPUs. So might not be worth paying the G-Sync premium anymore.

Did it turn out to be a good monitor? Mine arrived with one bright blue pixel on top center.

You are right on the trust part. Mine arrived with one bright pixel at the top center. Not sure if they will replace with a good one. I guess I cannot go to dell as they have a policy to have at least 6 or more defective pixel to consider for replacement

No issues with mine outside of the normal TN platform downfalls. I've been very pleasantly surprised and enjoying some 144hz G-sync fun. I also checked through Dell and my monitor does have it's 3 year warranty intact. Tom, if you're within the return period can't you bring it back to Best Buy?
