Bought this exact model from SlickDeal at Target about one year ago. Best bang for the buck at this price range - only thing I wish it had was a 4th HDMI input and the option to get an RF Roku remote so you don't have to point remote at TV all the time. Other than that it has been superb - I don't think you can find better combo of picture quality and 4K smart TV controls for this price

Agree, it is solvable by turning Dolby vision off. Anytime you lose power to the roku TV, it will forget the setting and you will have to use the secret menu to turn it off again. A minor issue. TV is still absolutely worth it at this price!
I will have to revisit the issue, seems I didn't have to do anything to disable the DV on Roku. It just defaulted to HDR10 on the Xbox S. I'm about to cancel Netflix anyway, getting gouged for the higher tier.

get them both! I've had 55S and 65R side by side for 9 months now. 55S 4 series is best bang for buck but the 65R is brighter and better for gaming and PC monitor. I use the smaller 4 series as auxiliary display with 1080p news feed and it's a lot easier to wall mount.
Haha I see you also got that insignia best buy deal on the Google Bluetooth speaker as well lol

The 65 looks a lot brighter and clearer from the picture. Did you tweak settings or is this an out of the box comparison? Oh and is this the Walmart black Friday version of the 65 inch (4 series)

Just picked up a few rokus over Xmas, I find nothing special about them and the content is weak unless you have subscriptions. It's way better to just cast television/movies from chromecast if you're looking to cut the cord

Is there anything else better in the market for the price? Budget is ~$500, looking for 55" or larger.
No. I did a lot of research, best in class

The newer TCL 6 series would be a better candidate. It was recently on sale and if you can wait, it's a great buy.

I've been doing a lot of research in the last month. Low end LG, Samsung, etc. I didn't know much about TCL and stayed away from it (wish I hadn't) - but if you look at the reviews at rtings.com as well as YouTube, you will see the 4 series is awesome bang for buck and has been reviewed more favorably than other name brands at the price point. That's why I'm waiting to bite the bullet any day now of the 65s405 to upgrade from my Samsung 43"

Just waiting to see if we get a better deal then the $499 right now at Best Buy and Walmart. You guys think we may see a bigger discount for Super Bowl sales?

My bad. I saw ~$500 and thought that means about $500. I didn't understand that ~ = <.
In that case, get this one and a good sound bar. The sound from this TV is good enough but not great

sorry about the cable clutter, my streaming experiment is non ending. That is why I posted it, to show the difference in brightness in my bright room, the 6 series ($970 from BB 65R615) handles reflections better. Showing the same DTVN content, both are hooked up to laptops but one laptop has native 4K on the right TCL 65R.

The TCL 4 series on left needed tweaking but the 6 series was great out of the box. I did try to tone down the 65R615 for PC use and max out the brightness on the 55S405. Had this 4 series for over a year and the 6 series for 9 months, zero issues.

Yes those are the $25 portable INsignias from BB deal, liked them so much I bought 6! Two for good stereo and others for home group throughout house.

Thanks for the insight! I grabbed the Walmart 65" 4 series and although the price was stellar the picture isn't as good as the 55" hisense it replaced. Although I will say I haven't given it any calibration yet.

It does have a problem where when I sometimes switch HDMI inputs not using my receiver but using the TV inputs the screen turns green.. trying to add the Walmart protection plan now jic.

SN: I knew you could pair the insignia for stereo but didn't know you could group them.. I'll have to look into that if you can do a group audio thing then I'll have to pick up 3 more to add to the two I have. I'll try it with the two I have now. Thanks!
