trying to lookup these titles on Audible.com so that we dont get misled by review on the other ebook/paperback formats ...

David Copperfield: 1 review (1 star for overall)

Great book but does it really require 938Mb?

I bought this book in a deal recently - Charles Dickens is great, but when I tried to download it on my IPhone, I found that it needed 938Mb of memory, so my IPhone would not download it. That is nearly 1Gb. What kind of device do I need to listen to books on the move, when the books are of that size? Do we go back to CD's? I think that the size of files should be shown when books are offered for sale, along with technical guidance on how to actually listen to them.

Why go with the unabridged version when the author couldn't even make some of the pages disappear?

This exact same recording—by the exact same narrator—is FREELY available from Librivox:
https://librivox.org/david-copper...version-2/

If you listen to the sample, it is clearly the voice of Librivox narrator Tadhg,

The publisher Oregan (aka Oregon) takes these free public domain recordings, strips them of all associations with Librivox, changes the names of the narrators, and sells them for dirt cheap prices.

You can find a vast number of free, properly attributed audio recordings of Charles Dickens' writings here:

Thanks! Grabbed all 3, great filler material if you run out of credits since audible books are usually fairly pricey otherwise.

Right, wrong, or otherwise, Librivox' website explicitly says they are fine with folks selling their recordings so it's not quite as immoral as you imply.

Thank you for pointing it out though, I wasn't aware of Librivox and I think they are a cause worth supporting so hopefully Oregan kicks something back to them so their cash cow keeps giving milk.

And you never would hear about Librivox through Oregon/Oregan's audiobooks, because they go out of their way to erase Librivox from all their recordings. Various other publishers sell Librivox recordings, such as Paperless. Perfectly legally, as you say. But at least they credit the narrators. Oregon/Oregan changes the names of the narrators, presumably because they wish to profit off of Librivox (again, legally) precisely in order to avoid any association with Librivox. It is extremely unlikely that they care one whit about supporting Librivox.

That's unfortunate but it sounds like you are well researched in this domain so I will concede you are likely correct. I did find that "Paperless" publisher has tons of books on audible so I'll prefer them in the future on your recommendation. Thank you
