How good is this bike for extreme mountain terrain and is it worth it?
Depends on what your definition of extreme is. For $300 it is a good value but the fork on every single one of these sub $500 bikes is not up for black diamond trails. No dampers and the bushings will get sloppy much quicker than the high end bikes. This is a fine entry level bike but don't think you can take it out of the box and make it perfect by watching a few hours of youtube assembly videos. Take it to an experienced mechanic to check over everything.
I have assembled 1000's of bikes from Raleigh - Diamondbak and the pre-assembly at the factory is a crapshoot.
The bikes you see at Redbull Rampage cost 25 times or more than what these go for but it should be much better than the $200 Walmart specials.

This bike is more of a hybrid bicycle. I wouldn't take it on any trails but it's nice for around the neighborhood and on grass.

And they are sold out.
