Bought this from Amazon open box a while back and it was clearly an item that had been used for ages and then somehow returned to Amazon. Maybe they bought a new one and returned it with their old one in the box? Either way, I returned it and bought it new.

This just plain works better and is easier than setting up some camera not meant for being a baby monitor. The screen can be off while it still plays sound from the room. There's a series of lights on the side that illuminate with sound; more of them illuminate with more noise. It has an auto shut-off feature for the screen so you can have it on for 5 minutes or so right as you put the baby in the crib, etc. It's almost like this is a purpose built product.

Oh, and you can tilt/turn the camera in all directions.

We've had great luck with ours (3.5 years, 2 new batteries) and lots of traveling. It generally works awesome. Does not work well when near a device using 2.4ghz wifi. Temp sensor is kind of garbage, but our LO is comfortable from like 68-73 on the monitor so we just go with that..

If you just want something that you can pop on a table and see your kid and hear him/her, it's great.

Not everyone wants an internet connect camera. (We don't). Also the issue with app based camera is that it takes time once you get the alert to open the app and wait for the app to load the camera. Non issue here, screen is on instantly when something is up.

I can't speak to the quality of this one but these are absolutely indispensable once you've used one. Make sure to get something of quality though.

With the resolution of that screen you'd be better off using a Wyze cam (or multiple) connected to literally any other device with a screen and it would still be cheaper

The temperature sensor doesn't really work anyway. I have had 3. Always says it is 5 degrees hotter than it is.
