I think both are good options with this having dedicated graphics (depends on your needs).

I've never had a Surface laptop but I did own this Asus for a short while. From tinkering with the surface laptop in Microsoft stores, the surface build quality seems better. I feel like this Asus could be snapped in half and broken easily.

The Asus one having a better Processor as well as i7-8550U is a quad core CPU and in demanding tasks, it can perform up to 40% better than the 7th Gen Dual Core CPU in Surface Laptop deal people are referring.

Yup. Some people got burned with bad units here:

Love the specs, but those reviews are concerning. Seems some QC issues. I wonder if I can get a refurb for sub $600 with warranty. I know that seems crazy, but refurbs are typically tested more thoroughly.

Indeed, I have a 3 year old ZenBook and so far I've had to replace the keyboard that broke after a very, very tiny amount of liquid got into it from a Clorox wipe. And I've had to replace 2 power adapters so far, both official ASUS brand.

I'd recommend the Huawei Matebook deal, it can't possibly be any worse than ASUS.

Looking for some expert help. Thanks in advance.

I Bought the below for around $650 - like new in original damaged packaging from Amazon Warehouse. Seemed like a steal - have been in the market for a few months looking and nothing was that interesting. The primary use will be heavy Office usage with some light picture editing. The Costco Dell 13 Inspiron looked very tempting but the quality reviews were bad. Is the below better than this or the surface?

ASUS ZenBook 13 Ultra-Slim Laptop 13.3" FHD Display, Intel 8th en Core i5-8250U, 8GB RAM, 256GB M.2 SSD, Win10, Backlit KB, FP, Icicle Gold, UX331UA-AS51
