Account deleted?

15 10 January 12, 2019 at 10:14 AM
my account (of the same name) ceased to work in the last few days. Requesting password resets stated that my username didn't exist (I've been a member for many years!) and when linking my Google account instead (was previously only a slick deals account) it let me change my account name to my former username.

I didn't receive any indications that there was an issue, so wondering what I can do to get my reputation, preferences and deal alerts restored.

Help!?

I just checked my spam filter. There was a notice saying I signed in from Europe and my data would be removed. I was on vacation visiting family for 5 days!! This has to be reversible, surely!?

Anyone else who has a similar issue: I've been told it's irreversible and directed to a post that I have no idea where it is located (or that it existed) until I was directed there by staff:

It's just an endless stream of old SD users getting deleted. I was just hit with this exact stupid workflow and lost my 10+ yr old account.

Yet the devs of this site dont even see the problem despite all these posts.

Shocking to read about this policy.

Robbing people - who helped SD grow - of their account, simply because they flew out of the country for business or went on vacation, maybe used a vpn for another purpose and surfed the web a little in the mean time.

Thumbs down for SD.
