Avoid these turdy GS engines. You want a GX
SERIOUSLY?

Just so I can make sure I understand. I take the time to go to list this GREAT deal on a Honda OHV motor designed for both all residential use and light commercial use and all you want to do is come in and bash on my thread with an unjustified / unrealistic opinion?

The engine you are referencing costs more by itself than this whole lawnmower does!! The GX160 MOTOR ALONE is almost $ 400 MSRP by itself !!! EEK!

Please tell me where you are getting GX 160cc motors on mowers with a MSRP of $ 329 in the first place.

Better yet, please feel free to post a comparable GX thread for under $ 200, I promise not to kick the shit out of your time and efforts on creating the thread to share with others.

Just sayin'

A few things...

Briggs & Stratton small engines are fine. I wouldn't pay much more for a mower just because it had a Honda engine, unless the whole mower is a Honda (and still wouldn't pay much more).

Just because the name is similar to Toro, don't assume the mowers are similar. Troy-Bilt mowers are made by MTD. Toro customer service is great. MTD/Troy-Bilt customer service is not.

The mower before my current one was a a Troy-Bilt. It was terrible. Problems out of the box, and others popping up later. The only part that never had problems, and far outlasted the mower was the B&S engine. When the mower deck finally fell apart so bad that it was unusable, I sold the B&S engine.

Honda engines good but not perfect. They have problems too (many starting issues reported online (just search).

Honda mowers are good but not perfect. Many issues with transmissions and other parts reported (just search). They're expensive to fix as well.

Honda power equipment customer service is terrible.

No need to reply that you've never had problems with your Honda. It's irrelevant.

Confused

Ok, you are starting to loose me here. I see your trying to draw on your infinite wisdom by referencing some old mower you had in the past, NOT THIS MODEL and NOT EVEN THIS SAME ENGINE MANUFACTURE !! EEK! Yet somehow you are an authority on this specific engine and mower since you posted in the thread. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

Yeah, I am probably making a moot point but hey ..... all the cool kids like yourself seem to be doing it. Please

Applause

Now we have you pretty much SUCKER PUNCHING Honda across the board on all of their products and customer service. LMAO

This probably explains their continued success in the industry along with sooooo many dedicated patrons that support the brand for its overall reliability and performance. Ha ha Wink

worship

Now this statement .... this statement right here I LOVE THE MOST!!!! OMG woot woot worship

So picture this. Try to imagine that someone just got done spewing all kinds of personal comments and conjecture that is extremely negative, opinionated and irrelevant to this posted product. They need a big finish because you can't stop there....... why should you ...... your on a role drinking your own Kool-aid. You take it one step further and tell everyone else that their opinions and experience shouldn't be expressed and don't matter!!!!! " no need " " its irrelevant " Applause LMAO Applause LMAO

Brutal honesty is this. Emotional opinion and the anonymity of a keyboard has undermined both this site and the basis of what it was built on.

What's the point of investing time and effort to share something if it isn't appreciated?

This isn't a personal attack, this is a good drink and a bit of time for finally pushing back on someone killing a good thread over bullshit.

Peace

I will invest my money on a electric one for small lawn mower like this. Less noise (less complain) and easy to start. Just my opinion, not trying to down vote the thread

Do you even know how much the OP owned you?

Man good post OP, I got a nice mower for when my grass thaws out. I added a 10% movers coupon to tease that down.

My Toro mower crapped out over the summer and in a pinch I went to Lowe's and bought this exact same mower. It's a piece of shit. I then bought a new LawnBoy (very low quality mower now) at a local auction for $130 and it wipes the floor with this thing. The TroyBilt LOOKs like a decent mower at first glance but it bogged down like crazy in my yard and had to be restarted multiple times. I cleaned it (the deck clean attachment is garbage as well) and returned it.
