Funny, my wife just got this game and we played it for the first time last night. I was skeptical about Battleship as well. When setting up your fleet, the other player has to hide their eyes/look away until they're finished. Then once the game begins all ships are hidden. There is a button that will reveal your ships but we never used it as you can't move them once the game starts and it doesn't matter if you forget exactly where they're at. Honestly, it was way more fun than I thought it would be. There is the classic mode and then there is the clash at sea mode. Where you get 3 white moves and 3 red moves per turn, where each ship has powers that cost different number of moves. For instance the aircraft carrier has a white move that costs 3 and it reveals an entire row/column over the course of a few turns. The red move costs 7 red but will allow you to attack 10 squares on one turn. Any points you don't use roll over to the next turn, and when each ship is sunk, you lose those powers. It's pretty fun.
The only other game we played was Scrabble, which is basically just like the board game except you get to see your opponents tiles when they are taking their turn and can only see your tiles when you are taking yours. This is for local play, we did not play online

Silly question... how do you play games like Battleship or Scrabble with more than one player? One player has to close their eyes when its the others turn??

You can use the adapter with the kinect or i think they have some app for your smartphone, not sure how it works, maybe you hold your phone and then it uses the accelerometer, but seems like a good way to break you phone when you lose your grip

Microsoft use to give out free adapters, but not any longer. You can guy them on ebay for about $100 now...

Thanks for posting. Been waiting for this to go down to play Monopoly with my son (so it goes a little faster).

You have to get a special USB adapter to connect a Kinect to an Xbox One X. They would give you one for free by request a little while after the launch of the X. Kind of a sham, I know.

Wish I had known that when I bought the X.... Not that I use the kinect ever (obviously) but still would be nice to have. Funny enough, I finally have a living room large enough to use it with ample space.
