The toner for this printer are crazy expensive.
$160 for a set and it's not even original one.

THANK YOU FOR POSTING! I have been waiting for this deal. If you buy branded toner I agree it's absurd. So don't! Just buy toner refills from Amazon. A complete set with chips is easily found for $38.

This is an awesome deal for a color laser Ricoh printer. I bought two of the Ricoh SP C250DN color laser printers from Adorama the last time they were on sale and posted on SlickDeals! It was an excellent purchasing experience. I do not remember if Adorama website charges tax fees though.

I am primarily a lurker so this is my first SlickDeals post. Hopefully I am posting everything correctly, and also I hope that this post will be helpful for anybody considering purchasing this printer. Peace

I have refilled all 4 toner cartridges one time since my purchase. Several SlickDeals members suggested this refill kit:
(TM-toner © 4 color toner refill kit + chips for Ricoh Aficio SP C250SF, SP C250DN SPC250SF SPC250DN Printer https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00UM2B8PM ).
This is the kit that I purchased. I quoted another user from this thread below that mentioned that this Ricoh printer takes the same cartridges, so this should be a valid aftermarket refill option!

Even though I watched a video from the toner-seller showing how to refill the cartridges, the job was still a little messy. I was lucky enough to have a helper that provided clean paper towels, fresh gloves, and pieces of tape as needed. I changed my toner in a box on my table outside on my patio. The next time around will go much smoother since I know what to do now.

Now I did not need to drill any holes. I preferred taking the plastic top off the cartridge and pouring in the new toner because it was faster and I did not damage the cartridges. The cartridges are easy to put back together. I was able to easily attach the new chips with small pieces of black electrical tape. I would suggest refilling outdoors when there is no wind, or in a garage. Make sure you have a box or a bag to capture and dispose of the old excess/spent toner. Overall, my first time refilling the toner took almost a hour (with me trying to keep everything clean).
Also, I second what the user said about putting the correct chip to the correct cartridge. They are all color coded.

I highly recommend watching the following video. The toner-seller shows an excellent step by step process for refilling the toner cartridges without drilling.
(TM Toner YouTube Ricoh SP C250DN toner replacement video: https://youtu.be/NXzkfXERJzk)

I do not print high quality items here at home, but the printer does a nice enough job for basic printing and photo printing on regular paper. I have not had any issues with OEM toner or the aftermarket toner flaking or peeling.

This is the truth, in an effort to keep my cartridges clean, I changed my plastic gloves several times.

Thank you to this user for validating that the SP C250DN cartridges will work.

I had one issue with my Ricoh printer, and that was the wireless printing. Occasionally the printer would drop off of the network. My quick fix was to power cycle the printer. If that didn't fix it, I would restart my wireless router. It was a minor inconvenience, and I eventually just ran an ethernet cable for a wired connection to permanently fix it.

Please note that this SlickDeals thread is for the Ricoh SP C261DNw. All of my experiences above are from the very similar Ricoh model SP C250DN.

TL;DR This is a good deal if you are in the market for a color laser printer. Replacing toner with aftermarket can be time consuming and messy, but financially worth it. Wi-Fi connection on a previous model was occasionally spotty.

I have the older deal of this printer that was $69 delivered. I've reset the original cartridges 2X now without refilling them and it's still printing fine. It's not that easy to find but there's arduino code out there to reset the cartridges without changing the chips. Hopefully this model they didn't close that technique.

edit: This printer takes the same catridges as the C250dn which can be reset. Going to buy one of these printers as a backup.

Any idea of the quality of this toner, or how much of a mess it is to refill?

I have changed the toner on a now dead cn250. I recommend against pulling apart the cartridge. Just do the drill and fill technique they send with the refill. At first I thought it was nuts but is so much easier. Also, make sure you use the right chip on each cartridge! The Y is for yellow. 😁

Sorry... As for quality of the toner. I guess it works for me but I'm not printing anything where I pay attention to the quality. I guess I just don't know. It works for my simple household purposes.

I'm wondering the same. Used a $5 bottle of toner for my Samsung and it would flake since the melting temp wasn't right. Composition does matter. I wish this was like my Ricoh at work which takes in bottles of toner powder and runs till the cartridge is bone dry. It will stop printing when it is unable to suck out any more toner out of the hopper. A really nice design and it sucks they don't implement it on the cheaper machines

Arduino code out there to reset the cartridges? Unbelievable. The chip tells the printer the cartridge is out of toner when it's not? That's just crazy. Wonder if it is intentional so they can sell more toner carts?

I'm pretty sure they don't have a reliable way of measuring the remaining toner, so they have to calculate remaining capacity based on amount of printing. I'm sure selling more cartridges is a nice side effect of that method.

And also a mask. I kind of forget it usually but definitely a good idea.

I'd buy it but not sure it'd survive shipping cross country.
