Refurbished/Tcl/Walmart are 3 things that never work out good together.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Potential buyers should browse the previous threads regarding the tcl refurbs at walmart. DO consider the walmart extended warranties on the refurbs however for a worry free purchase. No competition with equivalent features at this price point and normally sells for $360 when not refurbished.

This deal regularly sells out quickly...very easy to add a 3-5 year walmart warranty plan which makes this a no brainer. The S401 is basically the same as the S405 with minor differences...from what I recall mainly cosmetic. I've got one from a previous deal up on my wall and it's been fantastic. If I could find a similar deal on a 65" it would be replacing the mitsubishi 73" DLP tv in the living room.

For privacy advocates, TCL is one of the few tv manufacturer's that allow you to disable tracking and reset your "advertising id". A recent article talked about why all the recent "smart tv's" are so cheap and a big part of it was the manufacturer's being able to sell tracking data to advertisers.

You having one bad experience doesn't mean refurbs are a bad idea. If you didn't return it and get your money back in that situation then that's on you. And trusting geek squad to do anything to your computer is not very smart.

I got my 50" Vizio refurb years ago for $400, shipped to door. First one was single boxed and shattered internally. The replacement arrived 10days later double boxed and perfect condition. So YMMV, they may have better or worse shipping now but it was free and delivered to my door.

Avoid like the plague. Unchecked returns sums it up.

Wow, you're so cool for that statement! You can hate on two different companies and bag on refurbished products in the same sentence. You should be a movie critic.

All jokes aside, this is a great TV for the price point. If you are able to get the 3-4 year warranty for under $50, this deal is slick

Isnt this only 120 off of normal MSRP, adding in a warranty(would never buy a refurb especially Walmart without a warranty) for 50 or so dollars means this ends up being 70 off of MSRP, not very slick to me.

If the warranty is the same price as the last time this deal was offered, its closer to $30. Not to mention, 4 years peace of mind vs. 90 days peace of mind, definitely worth it

Seems 400 MSRP, so it's closer to 150$ savings.
32$ for warranty of 4 years.
So 120$ saving with a 4 year warranty vs new with one year.
