Got the deluxe with case last year for around the same price, which has much nicer stuff on it. Ebony board, rosewood back/sides.

Setup was honestly garbage. Lucky it has bone nut and saddle so the action was easy to fix. Plays like a dream now, had to lower the action at the nut and saddle quite a bit to get to a comfortable 3/32" at 12th fret.

Wtf does this mean? I returned mine because it had a bent neck and the professional tuners said they would fark it up further if they tried to tune it

As a luthier I'd say 90% or more guitars I see with a "bent neck" are just not setup properly. Always astounds me that "guitar techs" at local shops and guitar center are so inept. Your guitar most likely just needed a truss rod adjustment and a setup.

Great to have a luthier on board here.
I think his tech is just trying to use simpler words that he can understand easier. He meant the neck angle is bad (IE. the fretboard top does not extend exactly to the top of the bridge). This is the key for a good neck set any luthier tried to achieve. No adjusting at the nut/saddle/relieve can fix a bad neck angle as you would know.

That is also the only fear when I buy a Chinese acoustic -> they let tons of guitars slip thru QC when the neck angle is off by too much. I will take slightly off neck angle ... but any more will be my nightmare no matter how nice the wood looks.

You/He did the right thing to return that thing. The only thing to correct that guitar was a complete neck reset which will cost more than you paid for it.
It is also a nightmare for him as he probably won't get it right the first time either; if he charge you for a fixed fee for the neck reset.

I am thinking about returning it. I have also slightly bent neck. Sounds okay but overall quality isn't what I expected.

You make acoustics? What types of models do you make?

Wonder how this compares to the expired Washburn deal.

Can't say I've played a Washburn, but I've never really been "wowed" by a fender acoustic either. Solid top, back and sides is a good indicator though.

The last mahogany guitar I had was a Martin and it sounded great but was also 4x the price. Rosewood or even some maple is the gold standard for acoustic guitars imo.

We purchased this guitar for my son who is taking lessons. Nice guitar the instructor said it is a good purchase and the guitar shop sells them for more. The case on the other hand already has a broken clasp. Can't win them all I guess but overall happy
