is this company legit? I read one review saying they sell refurbished as new. $19 is a steal if it's new tho!

Thinking about buying one for my parents, in case the leased (for free, thankfully) modem from their cable co decides to die on them.

Shows up on list of supported devices [xfinity.com] for Comcast xfinity.

Wired Download Speed: Up to 286 Mbps

according to https://mydeviceinfo.xfinity.com/...c-7610-446

Given that the classic Surfboard SB6141 sells quickly for around $20 used (if you even can find one in your area) and $30 refurbished, and has a download speed of up to 284mbps [xfinity.com], I'd say this is a great alternative at the price point.

Thanks OP, good deal. Normally $40-45 on amazon, so $20 is a steal to avoid those rental fees. On the approved list for Spectrum [spectrum.net] and fast enough for what they offer for most people, even though it's not a super new model.

That depends entirely on how much area you need to cover.

If just an apartment, a TP-Link TL-WR841N [amazon.com] is cheap and works well (covered my 1200 sqft apartment just fine; can even be DD-WRTed for extra stability and power).

The tmobile cellspot router (AC-1900) [amazon.com] that occasionally goes on sale for $40-50 is stupidly powerful for the price and could more than adequately cover a large house.

I can confirm this specific model works with Spectrum. I've got the higher-level 7650 model, and fought with Spectrum for weeks to get their provisioning system updated correctly for it. Rock solid reliable line of cable modems. Great price. Thumbs up.
