What's the purpose of this book? To make someone motivated to be more productive at work?

The purpose is to help people be more efficient and organized. It has been a couple of years since I read it but I don't recall it being motivational.

I'm going to purchase it. I've been following a lot of productivity podcasts and I think they base their major themes off this book. It'd be good to read this book to bring it all together.

Long story short, if you got a lot of 'tasks' that you want to get done, write them down somewhere to 'get it out of your head'. That will help clear your head and focus on the important. Then periodically review your 'tasks' and prioritize and set aside time to get them done, etc.

That's a very oversimplification of it all - but you get the idea.

I just finished "the power of habit" which I highly recommend. It's more of an exploration on human behavior and how we build habits and then automatically execute them. If being productive is what you want, or studious, or more kind, whatever you may want to be, it can apply.

I've been using what I've learned to build habits that I didn't have, such as consistently being tidy at home and working on my Master's project more consistently.

I also used what I learned to kick bad habits, such as checking Slickdeals 20 times a day and being distracted by it . My productivity has gone through the roof in the past two months.

Yeah but think of all the discounts on useless crap you don't need you'll be missing out on!
