This is compatible with the 20V Max Black and Decker series batteries, isn't it?

No. These are a new line using different battery. The batteries cannot be modify as the mounting bracket is bigger and + - pin is also in different location. If u want something compatible with the black decker then get the Porter Cable 20v ssaw. Require minimal modification

Craftsman 18/20V lines change every year. They have the C3, then the bolt-on 20V, then the Diehard 20V, now the thing called V20 (not 20V but it is 20 Volts! Go figure...). None of them are compatible with the other.

Tools designed by Snowflakes that have never used a tool and are following the HP printer ink business model .

That's why I stick with Ryobi. Same battery platform since 1995.

V20 should be around for a while. It's made by the new Craftsman owners. All the other lines were distributed by Sears. The thing I like is the Sears power tools are skyrocketing in value now.

Good info. Are the new Craftsman tools more similar to Dewalt than the other SBD brands?

I havent used or seen this craftsman stuff in person but i own plenty of dewalt and these tools def look similar with a different color scheme. The ergonomics look the same and shape of everything. Safety switches look the same. Seems to be Stanley is making this line basically just be a cheaper version of dewalt

Craftsman Brushless Impact Driver: Is it a DeWalt Clone? [youtube.com]

If you don't want to watch the video, the answer is basically yes it has the same guts as a DeWalt. However, it must be stressed that this example is a higher end and fairly expensive Craftsman tool. Cheaper Craftsmans may be their own design or have internals borrowed from some of the other Stanley brands like B&D or Porter Cable.

It appears that Lowes does show $139 on their website, even for in-stock stores, but using BrickSeek shows those same in-stock stores selling for $79.

By the way, this is 20-volt V20 battery, not a Craftsman 20V battery. The distinction is important since Craftsman's V20 (Lowes) and 20V (Sears) lines are not compatible with each other.
