Thanks, yes, I noticed that. I think in the end I'll just buy from them.

not only is their shipping expensive, most of the time they under estimate the shipping arrival dates. definitely not the top choice for ordering in the beginning of the week, expecting a weekend job to be done.

Maybe that's based on where you live, everything I have ordered has been at least a day earlier than their estimated delivery date

This is my experience too. They ship the same day and usually get them a day early.

To manage shipping costs you need to put together a package of several items, as you get better shipping prices with more items. As RockAuto has several vendors for the same item, you need to but all the different makes in your basket, and then go thru and try to assemble your several items so that they are being shipped out from the same lo action. In this way you may be paying a few cents more from the item, but since they are being shipped out from the same warehouse the bulk shipping savings more than makes up for the small increase in item cost. You really will not beat Rokauto's prices or the wide selection.

This is mentioned again on this thread, but it depends on where you live and what the item is. I live out in the far far boonies. For 1 rotor, shipping is $18. For 2, it's like $60, and for 4, it's like $120 (yes, from the same warehouse, because... rotors). And then for the brake pads, it was slightly cheaper to order both the front and back pairs at the same time. So you gotta play with the shipping. Time consuming but can be worth it if it's significant.

I pretty much exclusively shop RA for parts. I've easily bought $5,000 in parts over the last couple of years. Most of that was from engine rebuilds that I was doing on V-10's.

As far as Shipping, yeah its not free but typically better prices with shipping than you can get elsewhere. An example I just ordered a GM alternator for my tractor. RA price was $30 + shipping. Oreilly is $82 + core. Amazon is $65 + shipping.

I live in the sticks. I just ordered over $300 in parts last Friday for 4 different vehicles. I paid $3 extra on shipping to have them all sent fedex as I have issues with post office delivering my packages. I got 2 boxes on Saturday and the other 3 boxes on Monday.

In all the parts I have ordered over the years, I have only had 2 bad parts. I once got a ball joint that someone returned the used one and I happened to be the unlucky guy that received the used ball joint. They also had the wrong oil pump listed for my vehicle. I think this was more of a pervasive issue with all major parts books. I'd say that my success rate of getting the correct parts the 1st time is a million times better than going to the not so local auto parts stores.
