Slightly off-topic...but anybody know the practical reason they didn't just call the P-Quantum the Q-Series - or heck - even S-Series or anything else for that matter?

Why go from D, E, M, P to P-Quantum? Just add a new letter if it isn't directly replacing the P-Series.

Quantum is just a back light technlogy from Vizio and they happen to use it on the P-series.

according to their press release, there is also going to be a M-Quantum model in 2019 lol

Ahh, so the specs are identical in every way minus the backlighting? I guess that would explain it. I'd be curious to see how that possible 2019 MQ compares to the 2018 PQ.

I think the P I supposed to be OK in a darker room. The Quantum in room with more natural light. My main living room has a southern exposure and lots of windows.

I have a very bright room and looking for a good tv with limited glare. Would this be a better buy or the Samsung QLED? I heard the QLED is good for a bright room but also a higher price point. Any advice would be appreciated.

MQ will have less zones so i doubt it will be as bright as 1028 PQ, but perhaps it would be brighter than the 2018 P.

but generally the picture quality of P is better than M, so I would think MQ would beat 2018 P in HDR contents and slightly worse in rest of the areas.

I personally want to wait and see the MQ. If it is close to 2018P + 1000nit of brightness, i would be all over it.

Short answer: no. If you're viewing habits are strictly cable/antenna with no streaming or 4K discs, it would be overkill (and wasted money) to get a set like this. Odds are you aren't SUPER picky about the best of the best picture options. You'd likely be thrilled with a Vizio M or even E series instead, and it would save considerable money. I'd also take a long look at TCL.

Sweet finally. Was going to go for the 75x900f but for $1k more don't think it is worth it. Primarily use an Apple TV 4k for watching tv so upscale won't be an issue.
