No More Giveaways?

1,636 1,819 January 27, 2019 at 08:20 AM
Just curious... What is the point of building rep points, giving rep points and trying to find and post great deals that could go Popular or FP if there is no incentive like increased odds in giveaways. I'll be the first to say I am not the best deal finder but it was always fun getting something popular or frontpage and then seeing my odd were better in a giveaway.

I am more of lurker than I like to admit but not having incentive to find and share deals seems like it would lead to fewer quality posts being made. I mean no one is really even posting here in the giveaway threads anymore....

What gives?

Personally I joined late to the game and never knew about giveaways to begin with. Just found out about it now while exploring the app. I just kind of appreciated people posting and if I find a deal I check to make sure it hasn't been posted yet to return the favor. It's kind of a help each other out thing for me as an incentive.

I greatly miss them, makes me sad the sponsored sweeps have disappeared. Maybe it was a conflict of interest in the long run.

We hope to bring them back soon.
I don't have an ETA but it was not a conflict of interest as the giveaway was clearly labeled as a sponsored giveaway.

I guess I will speak up to any mods/ownership listening and say I greatly enjoy the sweeps portions of this website. To potential sponsors/companies---the contest and sweeps forum has a strong, devoted, and passionate community. We like talking about sweeps and the brands represented. We pass new sweeps along to friends who enjoy them. I greatly hope to see a return to sweeps. Potentially with a revamped system that more rewards reputation of members better.

Bring on the sweeps! Applause

I stopped submitting much altogether due to the lack of giveaways. It was a nice thing to try for but not worth the flames now.

With popularity of 20th anniversary events, seems people loved the giveaways. They simply didn't want to write an essay, or volunteer what their social media handles were. Think the old style (raffkecioter style) sweeps that rewarded user activity were GREAT. Rewarded longevity, time on site, reps, and postcount. Make the tiers something everyone on the site can obtain with time, for example someone on the sweeps side of SD is unlikely to have front page deals.
