Correct, but the packaging and labels say for use only with a switch. The back of the box also says "3A output max" so worth keeping in mind. Definitely don't use with a high power device like a laptop.

Pardon my ignorance, but are these USB-C cables, or does Nintendo have their own proprietary connector?

Edit: question answered above while I was looking for specs on the switches ports. Thanks!

From what I understand is that the connector is the same USB-C, but the amps Nintendo uses is slightly different and may fry your Switch if you don't use their product. This is just a wire, so the above may be of little relevance.

Part of the benefit of USB-C is that it can regulate power transmitted thru. Which means, if you use a 87w MacBook Pro charger to charge a device that doesn't need all 87w, USB-C automatically change it to the appreciate fastest speed. In this case, it has a max of 3A

USB-C usually with not fry your device. It's part of the goodness of it.
