A lot of commenters seem to be confusing regular led or lcd projectors with laser. Take your average Epson 1060 projector using LCD; it lasts about 6,000 hours and is well-regarded for a budget projector. By contrast, this lasts ~20,000 hours AND the image does NOT degrade like an LCD projector. If you believe the reviewers, the image should stay more accurate throughout the bulb light, as opposed to degrading halfway through. Plus, if you have ambient light in your room, you want laser.

Laser projection at this price point is unheard of. This is the most affordable laser projector you will find.

I've had a deal alert for this for awhile, but the only reason I'm nervous is whether a 4k equivalent is out within the next couple years at a similar price point. With a larger screen and more 4k content coming to Netflix, I'm not sure about 1080p, even if this is a great looking projector.

20k hours is the equivalent of 833 days, which is almost 3 years. If you were to watch 8 hours of TV a day, this is almost 9 years of use.

That being said, these ratings are done at optimal conditions, so if you are valuing a home theater projector by the lamp life, good luck to you.

Excellent price for a 1080p laser; you won't find a better projector for ambient light at the price.

Not a lot of experience with Buydig, though. Any comments from other Slickdealers are appreciated.

Pretty pricey for only 20k hour lifespan. Be aware that the image will start to degrade at about 1/2 that amount.
Actually, no it won't. Half life applies to standard bulbs, not laser.

20k to 30k laser lamp life is standard. So much mis-information in this thread.
