I think folks upvote this since it's a nice reminder if they don't see the email. These posts show up faster than I get the email some months, so more of an appreciation post than a true slickdeal.

I was only able to get one book for free. After that, the other titles were only available for pre-order for $4.99. That is the usual deal. Why is this a Slickdeal?

Interestingly enough, I wasn't able to get any books for free this month. Hasn't reset for me.

It's not, but many posters don't think readers ever ck their email and could possibly miss their free book of the month.
Most of their posts are about Kindle, Prime, etc. Must work there

I've found all the kids'books 8ve gotten through First Reads to be at least acceptable, and often worth multiple bedtime reads.

I get that it may not be a true Slickdeals for everyone but I forget about this perk and appreciate the reminder since I'm constantly checking FP.
