1) 32 mile American River Bike Trail (with many offshoots) from downtown to Folsom Lake. You can ride 100km or more with almost no interaction with cars!
2) River Cats AAA baseball team
3) Rafting down the American River
4) Old Sacramento riverfront area
5) NBA Kings (new arena complex)
6) Sacramento Republic FC soccer team
7) Big microbrewery & farm-to-fork scene
8) Several local casinos within an hour of downtown.
9) Springboard to Lake Tahoe, several wine regions, San Francisco and the coast. All within a couple hours drive (when traffic is reasonable!)

It almost never snows in Sacramento, but if you want to enjoy it, it's less than 90 minutes away!

Drive somewhere else.
For example, wine country - Amador County, Lodi, etc. Napa/Sonoma etc.

Nothing but you could rent a car and drive to wine country and see the redwoods too.

NYC is amazing with lots of things to do, but it's really expensive! But if you're coming from Cali it might not seem that expensive.
