I just bought this. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/leno...Id=6291892

Would this hard drive replace the current (now I only have 256 GB) or would this be in addition to?

Just trying to add a little bit of speed, but not sacrifice storage.

Thanks

Should help it considerably. Maybe use it for your internal drive and buy an external 1TB?

JUST DON'T BUY THIS. Just no space left at least only a little left after installed the operating system. At least 240gb.
Please don't exaggerate. Windows 10 clean install is 12GB.

Anyone remember the days when we were all eagerly awaiting $1/GB?

What a great time to be alive.

I have an old lenovo that uses windows 10 on a 60gb ssd. Can't upgrade as there not enough room. Am upgrading to 120gb for that machine. 2ill re purpose the 60gb and turn another laptop into either chrome book or Linux.

This is plenty I put a 120 gb in my mom's laptop and she has about 50-60 gb left after windows os and updates and then the basics installed. I've also got a 120 gb installed in my secondary desktop and after windows os and updates, the basics installed plus a little extra and then steam, gog galaxy, epic games launcher and a few games installed I've got about 30 gb free. So I think this should be fine for a lot of the people who this would be for.

"Good" might be pushing it. They're absolutely worth the $18 if you haven't made the jump to an SSD yet or you just want a drive to play with, but be warned of a few things that could affect reliability: 1) it is planar (2D) TLC NAND, which is not particularly well-known for reliability, and 2) it doesn't have a DRAM cache, requiring writes directly to flash that would normally stay in cache (drive layout information and such). While flash can be read regularly without wearing it, writing wears out flash.

That said, don't take that as me saying this isn't a good deal. This is a *fantastic* deal. Just know what you're getting into.
Detailed and useful information. Thank you.

Would you all recommend getting the 120 gb ($18) or 240 gb ($30)? Hmm...
Considering how big programs and games are, I'd go with 240GB. Also gives you a little bit of future proofing.
