Will these games run on a modern computer without having to get patches/kits?

Excellent deal. SS, SS2, and IHNMAIMS are probably the best out of the lot.

I remember Strife. I just wonder if I would hate playing it, now....

"I have no mouth, and I must scream", what an incredible title. Rarely hear about it.

SS and SS2 were great... but without being updated for today I wouldn't bother with 20+ year old games.

System Shock and System Shock 2 were great games that I somehow never bothered to play despite great reviews. So I finally played all 3 games (Infinite is the 3rd one) in the series late last year and thoroughly enjoyed them. I highly recommend all 3. Great stories.

SS and SS2 ran fine on my i7 and W10. I was able to turn all the details to max and the games support the 2K resolution for my 27" monitor.

System Shock 2, otherwise known as Bioshock 0. It's the same guys. They couldn't make System Shock 3 because somebody else owned the name at that point.

System Shock 2 has updates for 4k 60fps (on Steam anyways; It's a community made patch, so anybody should be able to get it). The engine is locked to 60fps for reasons.

Also, if you do run it at 4k, the hud will be uber tiny without some minor settings changes.

Here's some guy's [youtube.com] guide on patching and some playtime.
