Short look through the 1 stars, reveal a lot (3 or 4 of 11) were having difficulties getting firmware to update in non-US/Canada countries. Which is one thing I noted it did immediately, so I can see if it didn't work I wouldn't be happy either. Another quick note there are two Smartthings Apps that work with this the Smartthings Classic app and the newer version titled just Smartthings. Both seem to work for me.

Another 1 star review was for incorrect time, which I experienced as well, when first setup the time will display wrongly, you have to move your location in the app to another timezone, save, then reset to your actual location and save again.

One 1 star reviewer noted difficulty with pairing. Pairing the sensors was a bit difficult mainly because the pairing window is so short for the ADT sensors, I had to follow the directions to reset the pairing for the sensors a couple times, but once I got the hang of it was simple, uses a QR code based scan to speed things up.

Another 1 star review from January stated Alexa doesn't work, I can verify that the alexa skill does now, allows you to set stay or away and asks for a pin(can be the same or different) from the one you use for the panel. Though security wise people can overhear you say your pin then know how to disarm your panel, unless you disable your Alexa devices when armed with smart plugs

This can be used as a SmartThings hub only, if you so choose. It truly needs to be thought of as two separate hubs that uses two sets of sensors. One set is for ADT security and the other set for SmartThings. The SmartThings sensors cannot be used for Security with the ADT component, and the ADT sensors cannot be used with the SmartThings component. The trick becomes trying to use a door for both automation AND security. You would essentially need two different sensors attached to the door to accomplish that - one to talk with the ADT component and the other to talk with the SmartThings component.

It appears that you CAN use the ADT sensors for both ADT and SmartThings. https://support.smartthings.com/h...w-Detector

No subscription reqd. Self monitoring possible. Has smartthings hub built in and works with all compatible devices. Basically 2 in 1 solution, home security and home automation

Thanks Sanky for the info! I ordered one to try it out with a SmartThings hub I already have and some ST ADT sensors I bought a few weeks ago and then found I needed the ADT hub to use. Glad I didn't take them back to Best buy yet. Ha

I have the other version, $100 bundle, it keeps disconnecting, I don't understand what causes it to disconnect, and when I re-connect it, some sensors never re-connect.

Can I use my old sensors with this? They are not too old, but were installed about 6 or 7 years ago. I know the ones bundled with this hub are not Z-wave, etc.

Too bad this doesn't work like an add on for current smarthings users.

I have this system and I really feel like it is a decent buy for the money. It doesn't do video monitoring but does everything else including smoke, carbon, and water leak at additional prices. But the sensors have previously been on sale making this system very affordable. Most bad reviews on amazon are about non compatible issues, but the hub mainly acts as a ADT hub with smartthings built in. So from a security point you won't be able to monitor using your old sensors because the ADT Hub won't interact with them. But you can still see them through the smartthings app. As for the disconnecting issues I live in a pretty small condo about 1000 sq ft and it hasn't disconnected once.
