How does the Ryzen CPUs compare to the A- series CPUs (A4, A6, A8, etc)?

Listed on NotebookCheck [notebookcheck.net]as having "4 GB soldered + 4 GB PC4-21300 (2666MHz), 17-17-17-39, Dual-Channel". Not ideal but it'll do. Display is listed as being a TN though, which could easily be a dealbreaker. The APU is killer though.

So is the screen not good on this one? From what I've been reading in recent threads, it seems difficult to find a decent 15" screen, good processor, and a ssd in the $400 price range.

Can someone explain why/whether this would be preferred over the one below which seems to be almost the same mod but with a larger SSD and $60 cheaper? The processor is different, is that it? What's the advantage Ryzen 5 over the Pentium?

No backlit keyboard? Hmmm also really small battery, pass!

I'm really impressed with my Huawei Matebook D i got on the walmart $299 deal, you can find them on eBay for a decent price though... It's 13 inch with no dvd-rw but it does have a 7-8 hour batter life and ips screen and backlit keyboard. Otherwise its the same setup with cpu/ram/ssd...

Are IdeaPads almost as good as a ThinkPad as far as durability and build quality? Or are they at least better than an avg. laptop? I'm looking for a durable (but affordable) laptop for a college student ... any recommendations are appreciated!

Thanks, looks pretty significant. For a casual use like surfing, MS Office, light photo editing, kids educational programs, and casting video to Chromecast, am I going to realize any of those benefits of the better processor? It seems like the larger SSD, lower price, and presumably better battery life (assuming?) of the one with the weaker processor might work better for me? Appreciate the advice.

I played around with a similar Lenovo a few months ago but it had a mechanical drive. I wasn't impressed with it. But that's mainly because the mechanical drive. This cpu with an ssd would be very responsive. This cpu is similar to a third gen core i5 desktop cpu. I think these prices with atleast a 256gb ssd is a good sign for laptops. For a while we been seeing similar computers with 128gb ssd and to me that's a deal breaker.

If this had IPS display with touch.... this would be an excellent laptop. But It's gonna depend on the touch pad and keyboard experience too
