GSync HDR IPS at 144Mhz 4k without much of a competition that is why so expensive.
New technology adopters must pay premium for it. I also don't like an idea that monitor needs to have active cooling, another part to brake and cause noise.
I don't think it will be mainstream for another 1-2 years

I currently have ASUS ROG PG279Q 27" WQHD 1440p IPS 165Hz which retails at $600 - $700 and I think it is better buy considering how expensive are GPUs to run 4k screen at 60FPS and above

Wow a grand and a half. Are you sure the screen isn't 127 inches?

You're going to pay to have the best of the best. Hopefully we'll see similarily speced monitors for under $800 next year.

Is there any GPU or SLI/crossfire rig that can even run 4k at 100hz? much less 144hz. I guess if you can afford this monitor, you can afford a GPU set priced at a modest car.

This monitor makes no sense unless you're running 2x 1080ti/2080. No single card is able to run 4k+144. Even sli is far stretch imo.

The price wont drop much, I mean the pg279q been the same price for over a few of years now and not much competition for it even in this current time.

Yea, I have the AOC Agon AG271QG 27" 1440 IPS 165Hz G-Sync which is not only great for gaming but great for my photography. 4K is nice, but I have no interest in paying for the GPU it takes to run it at 100+ Hz.

This will be nice in the next couple years... and the bezels will be smaller, Wink
