Grr... not available in my state.

Could be interesting though if this works with the Citi checking promos they seem to always run. Instead of keeping 15K sitting in a checking account, much better to leave it in this savings acct.

That assumes it qualifies and accts link (a big assumption).

Hummm, wonder if having this savings can help me waive the $1500 minimum balance on my Citi checking.

I just did that promo. I wonder if I could call and convert the savings to this one. I don't think I'm going to mess with it though until I get the bonus

Edit: Nevermind it said Carolina not California. It's not available here.

There are multiple banks that are comparable or better. Difference potentially with Citi is you'd have an advantage with brick and mortar access as well. Maybe...

Captial One does that, where you can have an online 2% account and still access it from a bank. So if Citi is the same, it might be useful in that way.

Of course that doesn't apply for people like me where they don't offer it in my state at all.

You can check with them if putting it into a CD would work. They have a 6 month CD at 2.25% (or did last time I was at Citi).

It takes about 3 months for the bonus period, then 1-2 months for the payout, so you kind of need to leave it in about 4-5 months anyway, an extra month is no biggie.

I called them just now. Basically this saving account is different from their regular savings account so you cannot get both the high interest and the bonus at the same time. You need to wait for the bonus to apply before switching to high savings

Yeah they're stating the promo APR.

1-833-418-6386 and mention code XXXXXXXXXX.
2. Open a new Citi Savings Account between January 1, 2019 and April 1, 2019 in a qualifying account package. Make a minimum deposit of $25,000 or more in new-to-Citibank funds into your new Citi Savings Account or linked checking account.
3. Ensure the balance of your Citi Savings Account is at least $25,000 or more by the end of the 10th business day after account opening*.
4. Earn the introductory Promotional Interest Rate (up to a maximum of $2,500) for up to 3 months after account opening, so long as you maintain a balance of $25,000 or more. After the Promotional Interest Rate expires, your new Citi Savings Account will be subject to the Standard Interest Rate in effect at the time.

I had frozen my credit. Do I need to unfreeze for opening a damn account with my money ?? Why? I can understand if they are gonna lend me $. Whats the risk it for them when they arent? Heck they dont even give us checks for the Acc. Savings
Do they check credit for banking or do ChexSystems ? I tried opening and just got a spinner each time.

2.36 APY is high, but beware if you're a current credit card member who relies on online access at Citi.com

Just signed up for a new savings account this morning, and I can no longer access my Citi.com profile! The main culprit appears to be having a savings account linked, and I keep getting prompted for my debit card number at login. I won't receive the Debit card in the mail for at least a week.

Phone support kept transferring me back and forth (credit card, Costco credit card, banking, online services) without solving the problem. "online services" couldn't even delete my profile because of my new savings account. The reps were more interested in catching keywords ("checking", "Costco", "creit card") and transferring me to the next department, than actually helping. What a mess!
