You're not supposed to soak cast iron ever. It's better to leave it oily and not clean it after cooking than soaking it.

Cast iron pan requires good care. Don't leave water in the pan, use only hot water not detergent to wash it, towel dry after wash, keep it away from wet area, and re-season it when wear-off is visible. With proper care, you can enjoy your cast iron pan for a lifetime. But if you want something for easy care, go for good qualify stainless steel pan such as tri-ply or multi-ply. They can stand all kinds of abuse and still look new after applying a little 'Bar Keepers Friend'.

Umm.. the ones I got from Macy's on black Friday rusted when I left water in them to soak before I wash them. Does that mean it was bad or was I not supposed to do that

You never want to soak a cast iron pan. Here is some information on how to season and clean cast iron pans: https://www.cooksillustrated.com/...t-iron-pan

The victoria 10" skillet final cost to own was $5 with this month Macy's rebate. Wondering if this deal is any worth spending an extra $5.

Will this stop 7.62 rounds or only 5.56?

If this is the deal you are thinking of, it was $10 after rebate, not $5.

Lots of other Food Network and Oxo kitchen supplies on sale too. I stacked these 2 coupons with HOME10 ($10 off $50 in home purchases).
