When I click on "see deal" it's $1,549.99 not $1000. Anyone actually seeing it for the advertised price when you get to the adorama site from the deal ?

be advised... jazzmasters have a very specific sound that doesn't really work for all styles.

Also, these are a pain in the butt to get setup properly.

that said... i dig me this color and wood combination of jazzmasters. really nice looking guitar being offered here.

Yeah Jazzmasters are a more specialized guitar than a strat or tele. That said, I've always wanted one! Now with all these guitar deals recently, I'm hoping there are some amp deals soon...

The American Pros have a new bridge. I have the American Pro jaguar and it's not a bad setup. The classic 60s jazz masters, 62 AVRI and 65 American vintage have that old bridge that's a little trickier. I wouldn't be afraid of this one.

This version of the Jazzmaster is pretty different than the 'traditional ' design.

It's got a different string saddle and bridge.

In addition, it has a more modern neck profile and is missing the rhythm circuit of the older models.

It's not a better or worse, just different. It has a more rounded sound and doesn't sound as unique as other Jazzmasters.

In summary, they sound more like conventional guitars and not as quirky/Indy as other Jazzmaster models. They also don't have the annoying tuning/ setup instability as traditional Jazzmasters.
I'm a current owner of both a 62 American vintage and this model.

Generally a heavier sound, but the main complaint on the offset forums from jazzmaster fans were that these pickups were not that and actually "stratty" whatever that means. I think with the simplified switching, new pickups and a bridge that's more like the Johnny marr jaguar, Fender was going more mainstream.

I do't know what part of "mainstream" the Johnny Marr Jaguar is. While i love mine, it's anything but "stratty". It's ridiculously nuanced, with a glassy and fairly narrow midrange focus. The current AM Pro Jazzmaster pickups are very snappy with a big midrange scoop... like a refiled P-90... basically the polar opposite of a Jaguar pickup. Jazzmasters can cover surf to new wave, to Dinosaur Junior. IMHO, it all comes down to how you like the neck. Personally, I've never played a Jazzmaster neck I've liked, but I'm pretty picky.
