the legendary and seemingly incredibly hard to get Philips 9500 open-back headphones are now back in stock at Newegg @ $79.99 with free shipping

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Pr...6826138190

I was ready to buy a couple to give as gifts back in December but they were out of stock then and have been for a while.

They are finally back now
price isnt the best but they still beat headphones in the $150 range, easily!

here is a raving review (NSFW) on the SHP9500

Probably because they've been 150-300 in the market since their disapperance. I know their MSRP is higher for sure. The fact that they're there is exciting enough...!

Oh, and they're BRAND NEW.

Yeah I've owned two at $50.

Apparently they stopped making them for a short while which artificially inflated the price, and now that they've brought them back they've increased the price as well.

Good cans but there is A LOT of noise bleed (can't avoid with this design), so if you're using them around anyone else they'll hear everything as well.

I have these headphones. They sound great and are extremely comfortable. This is a great deal. I paid more than this price last year and am extremely happy with these.

The sph9500 are amazing and rare. These are the sph9500s. They're still great but usually much cheaper than this.

These are NOT the SPH9500S. They are the re-release of the SPH9500. I have a pair recently bought from newegg and can share a box shot as an example...

If they really are the 9500, they are not a re-release. They might be NOS.

Had to buy a pair after watching that review. Lol.

Question for the expdrts: I should be able to drive these with my Note 9 as these are only 32ohm, right?

They're open back cans they're not meant to keep the sound in.

Damn that's crazy I didn't think these would be so expensive now. Used to always be sold for $50 a couple of years ago

The 9500S was meant to be a slightly cheaper version overall, and it didn't include the 3.5mm to 6.5mm adapter in the box. Also, the cable was shorter (1.5m vs 3m), the box was blueish grey on the 9500S vs Black on the 9500. The wire on the 9500 has a silver tip, and the cable was all black on the 9500s.

Specifications wise:

Frequency response: 12-35000Hz (9500) vs. 6-35000Hz(9500S)

Sensitivity: 101dB(9500) vs. 102dB (9500S)

Even though the slight Frequency response and sensitivity difference, they both seemed to perform alike to most.

I would always recommend a portable DAC, even if your phone/tablet can drive it. You will always get a superior sound. I have a Fiio E17K which is very portable and makes a huge difference. Although I waited for a sale from a third party for it.
