OK. This needs to be clarified. If you compare the nutrition panel and ingredient lines side by side (see the attached) in the lower sugar option, they kept the sweetness of the product up by replacing some of the Sugar with Sucralose. Sucralose is just Splenda, an artificial sweetner. Sugar is also a lot more HEAVIER than Sucralose, hence the difference in product weight per serving. Sucralose is about 600 times sweeter than sucrose / sugar.

In the end, they make same size cup of oatmeal. 50% lower sugar is just that, lower sugar with the sweetness supported by Sucralose.

I was interested in this since their normal instant oatmeal is too sweet talking for me, but was disappointed to see they just use artificial sweeteners instead of regular sugar.

Guess I will have to stick with mixing one pack of plain and one pack of flavored.

These are 30% lower sugar because the packets are 30% smaller than the regular ones. I'm not kidding.

Yup. 34g per serving rather than 43g comparing the maple and brown sugar flavor. Another example where the volume of product gets changed but packaging does not, but in this case they tout it as a plus.

"Lower sugar" is not JUST reduced sugar (which I'd like). It is sugar with artificial sweetener, it tastes like chalk in my opinion. Hope this can help someone else that reads this. I bought a large pack and am too frugal too throw out. Still ate it everyday for breakfast at work, hated it every time. Would rather have plain oatmeal.

Monk fruit extract. Not technically artificial.

Still... How about just making stuff less sweet???
(Love chobani's less sweet line!)

Quit buying this brand since I found spider legs in one of the packets.
