Do you game? I didn't notice the issues with just streaming netflix.
I have 3 desktops of my own, along with a phone and another Android device on the network, then my family has a Wii, 3 Roku, 5-10 phones & tablets on it at the same time.
I'm using an Archer C9 router to handle all of it, which it does very well, but the SB6190 constantly only connects to one Upstream channel, will connect to four, but will drop three of them before too long and mostly be connected to just one. Channel 25 constantly has thousands upon thousands of uncorrectables with twices as many correctables after only a hour or more of up time.

I've put it through it's paces over the years, so this time had to come someday anyways, but with it having the dreaded Puma 6 chip, it happened too soon(but still much longer than others). My $69 went a long ways for sure.

This made me look at what modem I was using and found that I still had a sb6141. No wonder my kid was complaining about speeds. I bought a netgear nighthawk router and forgot about the modem... Time to upgrade. Probably go with the cm600

I've had better luck with Netgear CM500 on spectrum.

It can be had regularly for $49 after coupon on Amazon.

Sorry, mine is a SBG6580, it's a modem and wifi
You would need this as well as a wireless router.

I had the 6190 for one day before returning it to Walmart and getting a CM600. It was night and day. It blows my mind that they are allowed to continue selling modems with this puma 6 chip. I guess the law suits are still ongoing. Even the puma 7's are crap apparently. Broadcom ftw.

I just picked up the 6183 used for $20 after switching back to Comcast from 50mb ATT. I went with the 150mb plan and get 180mb download speeds with it. Honestly, this is going to be a fine modem for anyone not needing more than the 250mb plan. I probably do more than most with the connection and it's never really been the speed that's an issue, it's that damn 1TB cap. I regularly use 1.2-1.3TB/mo on ATT but have used my ASUS Router to limit my kids streaming to 1.5mb as they tend to leave YouTube on a lot.

Good timing. Verizon just bumped up the rate to $54, so it is time to switch to Comcast.
Hopefully, Comcast doesn't desupport this modem in 6 months :-)

The arris lineup is fantastic I owned a few of their modems and can only say good things about them but this specific model is build with intels puma chip and this chip still has some issues after being patched up many many times. Head over to dslreports to read all about this chip.

Fine modem, as long as you're not planning on getting Comcast's 1Gig plan if available in your area.

LOL, SB6141 provides enough speed than most cable company can offer.

Does this modem work with the 400Mbps Comcast tier? The Xfinity tool claims it isn't compatible and I'm guessing that's means I won't get a DOCSIS profile giving me full speeds?

Where do you get that info from?
I thought this SB6183 is built with Broadcom chip, not Intel chip.

Arris bought the CM business from Motorola so no idea what that Motorola branded CM is. Arris is the leader in cable modem products.

I have no idea, but this is on the amazon product page for the Arris modem.

ARRIS Certified Refurbished products will ALWAYS be branded ARRIS, Never Motorola! If you get Motorola branded product they are illegitimate, need to be returned to Seller and Reported to Amazon
