I don't know about the vacuum mount but the wall mount version of these were horrible. They definitely couldn't stand up to classroom use and most of them crapped out within months. Blades went dull and it became really hard to turn. The bostitch ones are much better and you can tell the difference in resistance much easier when it's done sharpening

Ok, anyone whom owned one of these when growing up was a spoiled brat and was taught an incorrect life lesson.
If something has only one use and is worth less than the metal it is made out of, that device should not be produced or purchased! No matter how well it is made! Or how complicated its design is... This creates a false sense of innovative thinking amongst us.
We need kids to invent new methods of calculating Kalmogorov's complexity not this overpriced, overengineered, over transformered hunk of junk!

I blame society
Umm huh ?

When we came here from Hong Kong 25+ years ago, we brought our Japanese made pencil sharpener with us. Not any specific fancy brand but honestly it's the best pencil sharpener I've ever used. Every sharpener I've encountered in grade school is inferior, especially those damned automatic sharpeners that would literally chewche your pencils. 25 years later it's still just as good as I remembered. I plan to use it to sharpen pencils for my kids when they get older.

Maybe there's a hipster market for these? If you seriously want to sharpen wooden pencils, a small model with no moving parts from a reputable company that makes drafting supplies would serve you well instead.
I disagree. These are much faster and will sharpen the hell out of a pencil. That being said this one is suction Mount... I don't know about that. I have one of my garage that is screwed down to a workbench that works great and is probably 40 years old
