I'm 99% certain I just saw the same thing at Costco for $99 (I just bought the 1500va one for $129 from Costco.com, and was thinking I probably would have got this one for $99 instead had I known)
The Costco units are simulated sinewave. Not comparable.

Do you really need a pure sinewave ups? Doesn't modified sinewave run your desktop/network just fine? From what I read, you only need pure of you are running a/c motor or delicate medical devices.
Asking because you can get a simulated one for every now and then for about $87 on dell. Com
I'd say yes. My PC power supply gives off a loud humming sound when connected to simulated sine ups.

Pretty sure this is a UPS...
A UPS is constantly powering your devices from the battery power, not line power. A battery backup switches to battery power when it detects under/over voltage.

"double conversion" vs "line interactive" UPS. Both are UPS, both are battery backups.

What's better for tv, cable modem and home theatre receiver? Pure sinewave or modified sinewave? Or does it matter?

I find a big difference between this and the 1500va. The 1500 lasts more than 2x the time for the same power consumption. The math does not add up here. I have been slowly getting rid of the smaller ones and replacing it with the 1500.

I own one of these and it saves me all the time from power blips in Florida during the rainy season. I like the software and it will even tell you how much power the device your using is using over a specific amount of time.

I also have found that my 1500 lasts much longer on the same equipment
