This kit includes 2 x BR30 and 1 x A19 color bulbs and the Lightify hub for $32 with free shipping.

$2 more than prior front page.

There are on par with Hue.

The hub included will work, or you can use SmartThings, Wink, Amazon Echo Plus, etc... Anything with Zigbee.

I like these lights and find they have better color than Philips Hue, while being significantly cheaper and not requiring the Hue hub (which is required even if using ST or Wink).

I bought this kit last week from VMI. Loving it so far. It's my first experience with smart lighting. I'm a tech nerd and professional.

Setup was trivially easy. If you can set up a router, this should be no problem for you.
The app leaves a lot to be desired in terms of UI. From what I've read, this is a common complaint about other smart lighting, but I have no direct experience. But it's a usable if inelegant control system.
Colors look awesome to me, but again I can't compare against a Hue or Sengled. There's an incredible range available plus dimming and full spectrum of white temps.
Part of the reason for this purchase is I have geckos that need a day/night cycle and I'm a night person. They can't see red light so that's what I use at night. Before I had to use separate lamps/bulbs so this is a big convenience upgrade for me. It's just as deep a red as my red-only standard LED bulbs were.
App does include some neat dynamic presets, like a "fireplace" one that shifts between reds/oranges/whites and one that cycles through all the colors. TBH I can't see myself using these very often, but it's there and cool.
You can also save any combination of color/brightness/temp to a "favorites" preset list to easily switch between your most commonly used stuff.
There are scheduling features available, but I haven't tried it so no comments.
Occasionally when I use the "all lights on/off" switch in the app, it doesn't register and I have to cycle it on/off again to get the message through. Minor inconvenience.

All in all, the product seems solid to me (and fantastic for the price vs. Hue). I've read the reviews too and I can totally see how people with less experience playing with tech might find it too frustrating. The app is by far the weak link here. I hear it's easier when connected to the Alexa-skill but I haven't bothered to set that up yet.

My biggest complaint is now I want to buy a bunch more! And the color bulbs are hard to find for less than $30/each (without buying in massive bulk). Which brings me to the reason I started writing this post...

VMI via NewEgg has a 2 pack of the A19 bulbs for $49. It's cheaper than through Amazon or VMI's own website. $24.50/each is the cheapest I've seen in the last several days of looking, including ebay.

I didn't try - I connected them to ST directly, but from what I've heard, no, they will not. They use a different Zigbee protocol. The Lightify from Europe do word with Hue Bridge, as they use the same Zigbee.

That's completely incorrect. I'm running my hue bulbs with no hue hub with smarthings.

I read reviews saying they're a pain to pair with smartthings and have a mind of their own. Can anyone expand on that in their experience?
Also these are zigbee, should I be worried about them complicating my WiFi signal at all (say I just get 6)?

They work natively with smartthings and pair just fine.

Do these connect to WiFi individually or does the hub control them (like philips hue)?

Bought 2 to do complete room. The two br30 color bulbs run 76.xx on amazon. For the included gateway hub and a a19 this a a great buy imo. Thanks.

These are not WiFi, they are zigbee and need a hub. Looks like this comes with the hub.

Other hubs work just fine as well (smartthings, home assistant, etc).
