FYI...I tried to price match with B&H in order to avoid tax but...best offer they could make was $124 even taking the Newegg promo code into consideration.

Bummed. Still considering this deal tho.

Recently in the market for some external storage. Is this a good deal considering the Blues have an overall shorter lifespan? Looking to load the drive with 2160 movies and play onto my OLED from it via USB.

What's the life expectancy on these? Have a 2 TB I've had for 5 years and wonder if I should start thinking about replacing it.
Only use for back up so hardly ever connected.

Realistically, I have Blues that have been running for over five years, but they're redundantly backed up, so failure isn't a big deal. If you have no backups on your five year old drive though, you are taking an incredibly critical risk.

What do you mean by 'redundantly backed up?' If a drive fails, how do you go about recovering data on the failed drive?
