Not worth it imo over the Ryzen 5 model that went for $200 less. 2500U vs 2700U isn't much difference (<10% CPU frequency difference, same cache, same TDP), and the graphics in the 2700U perform worse due to TDP throttling iirc.

In the end it's an 8GB RAM upgrade, and the RAM is user-replaceable.

Not worth it, for the same price point I would rather go with intel Core i5 latest generation.

Does the Ryzen 5 come with a Vega 8 though? Is the Vega 8 and 10 close in performance, or are they both not great?

Does this really have a fingerprint scanner? I've been hesitant to buy AMD based laptops due to the lack of windows hello features. Let me know if I'm incorrect on this information.

Windows hello feature is just a software. It is not a big deal to support a software when you have the hardware. You just need a firmware update. But it is not a big reason not to buy a laptop with AMD processors since AMD is significantly ahead at the moment in terms of technology, architecture and price compared to Intel. That being said, I dont find this deal very attractive.

Both are good for integrated graphics. The issue is that these chips have a TDP limit, and will throttle when consuming more power than whatever number the manufacturer actually throttle at (typically around the 15W mark). Vega 10 is "better", but consumes more power and when the chip hits its TDP limit, the GPU throttles (or the CPU can also throttle) and becomes slower than the Vega 8. This seems to be an issue with most laptops.

Hey guys. Need an opinion on this. So I need this for my Mother who is a teacher and will need this for basic tasks such as word processing, writing school books, browsing presentations and very occasionally making a video or two for educational purposes.

I don't want to spend too much, but I think this will do? I was think between this and the Inspiron 14 from Dell which is around this price...

Please suggest... Thanks
