This is my last nba2k. I've played since 2k started making them. Stopped for a few years then played a little bit of 18 and then 19.

It's become a microtransaction hell. You pretty much need to spend a lot of money (pay to win) to level up at a reasonable rate, otherwise prepare to grind for hours per day to get anywhere.

The worst part is that it's not fun like how it used to be. If you play online 3 point shooting is the most viable direction. If you play offline shooting is a chore.

The presentation is a mess. Everything about the game is to try to get you to buy microtransactions. It's basically the worst of the worst in gaming when it comes to that. I got to level 91 in December with 150k in VC and stopped playing out of boredom.

I hope 2k goes out of business someday. They are evil and I'm done with NBA2K for good.

Honestly I can talk a whole bunch of crap about this game but I still play it everyday.

Say what you want about the micro transactions but putting $20 into mycareer was probably the smartest thing I ever did. Allowed me to get to level 90 in a week instead of a month.

Myteam however is a different story. I wouldn't even bother Buying a pack or whatever.

This year has a steep learning curve believe it or not. You're not going to be able to instantly be good at the game you're going to have to put some time in. If you do and get a couple people to actually run some games with you you'll find this game very rewarding

See that's the thing. I wouldn't know. this is my first 2K game since 2K 12. My first few weeks was very frustrating but then I had to realize that I was playing with people that had years of experience playing this game.

People have been playing this game since 2k 16. I made my 1st my career player on a whim, not knowing any of the meta and that made me cannon fodder for the higher level builds and players. I could have quit but I knew I had skill in the game so I continued. I probably spent more time this game than I should to be honest with you but I am one half tier below Elite in park now.

It's a game that you have to put an obscene amount of time in order to get any reward I would say is the biggest criticism I have, not the microtransactions

Thanks for the detailed review. I will not buy this one then. Too much time needed to get gud.

Wow. I have NBA 2k9 and that game was sooo much smoother and linear in terms of gameplay. No micro transaction, "grinding" session at all. Yes two different generation of gaming but there's a reason why I prefer the 2k9 versus current because of it simplicity in the game play, even create a player mode as well. I have this for Xbox 360 and while the animation and graphic is aging (ok the game itself is overall old) it still draw me to play without anything to grind. Can you relate to this? Hope this make sense.

Oh sure I understand. If I could break out my old PS3 and play my season of 2K 11 again I would. The reason why I am grinding in this game so hard is because yes it's the newest game and, I really do feel that this is the closest representation of basketball in a virtual space possible as of right now.

As the previous poster said he was turned off at the amount of time having to put in, some people might enjoy that

TLDR. if you're going to be a casual don't bother. If you're going to put in the time to get a high overall rating, watch the latest YouTube's for all the tips and glitches, spend months on months trying to get a very toxic Community to run games and cooperate with you, or spend $50 every paycheck to open card packs for an Elite Squad in my team then this would be the best 2K in quite some time

Is it fair to say that the majority of everyone's complaints pertain to the career mode? What if you just want to jumped into an NBA season or an exhibition game against the computer? Is that atleast worth the $20? I'm actually interested in getting the bundle with Playgrounds 2
