I bought a NZXT case with lighting that requires the CAM software, just like this item does.

All the tech reviewers reviewed it when it was brand new, and they complained the software was buggy and terrible. But the software had just been released.

I figured, those reviews are all over a year old, it has to be better now, right? RIGHT?

WELL ITS TERRIBLE. I'm only considering this because I already use CAM to control the lighting in my case.

I really can't recommend any product that would force you to use the terrible CAM software.
Don't do it to yourself!

*edit*
Technically you can use this without CAM. But if you care about the lighting effects, you will have to have CAM running all the time.
Occasionally CAM won't log in when it launches, and then forces me to reenter my login details every time it doesn't launch successfully.
When it isn't running, or I'm not logged in, the lighting it controls goes back to solid white, instead of loading the last pattern it was running, which is what I expected it to do.

Looks like Amazon [amazon.com] price matched as well.

X62 (28cm version) only.

Side question, can ne1 comment if NE will back tax a tax-free State in the future? I don't want to see a tax bill from NE or Uncle Sam about my past purchases with NE.

I've had the X61 installed since 2014 and I can't imagine building my next computer without one.

Agree the CAM software is not very good. It requires you make an account and sometimes it doesn't log in. I also use it for fan control. Wouldn't not use it for an AIO.

What did you do about CAM? Did you find a way to make it work without CAM?

I'd wait for the next generation of the Noctua U12 coolers. Significantly smaller footprint, but cools just as well as the much larger D15. Gamer's Nexus [youtu.be] talked about it at Computex 2018 and with a 200w heat load, both the D15 and the 5th gen U12 were nearly identical in thermal performance. The U12 takes up as much real estate as a Hyper 212 Evo.

I'm wondering if I'm on an older version of CAM than others are complaining about. I remember picking a color, and I'm not sure I've seen the CAM interface since, with no problems at all. I'll check when I get home.

I also don't worry about the lighting effect, as the computer is enclosed in a small enclosed computer shelf in a large L shaped oak desk, which necessitated liquid cooling for me, but means I also never see my case.

OK, I understand. You don't care about the lighting, so CAM isn't an issue. Thanks for the info.
