Stay away from single hose portable A/C. They just can't do the job.

Dual hose is better without a doubt. Single hose can work.

Also keep in mind you have too put the condensation somewhere. I would not rely on the small tray in the unit.

If you get a single hose unit do the following.

Purchase an extension cord rated for heavy appliances to give you options. I bought one from Amazon and it's rated for more than what my device can pull.

Position your AC and hose at the point where as little of the hose is extended as possible. I had to set ours on a milk crate to do this but this worked perfectly to run a small hose into a 2 gallon bucket for condensation.

With this setup the hose is really thick, it doesn't allow as much heat to escape and there is very little pull on the hose to pull it from your window. It is also alot easier to wrap the hose with something to further decrease the heat loss with it being Short and straight.

Also seal up the window as tightly as humanly possible. We use rubber weather stripping and thick foam for where the window crack exists with the window being open. Double hung windows when open create a gap in the middle. You want to seal it.

Finally we have a fan in front of it which helps really move that cold air.

With this setup it is safe, easy to manage and allows a single hose to perform as best as it can. We empty the bucket every day but it can go three days without concern in our environment and we never have to worry about the pan leaking.

I had this for a few years, works fine in 500 sq ft room. Moderate noise to sleep in but doable. Same single hose model...

Wait what about the portable Honeywell units from BuyDig.com that went for $145 last week? I'd sit and wait for another way cheaper deal. I bought two of the $145 Honeywell's.

Has anyone else noticed the amount of negative comments on amazon? Has me a nervous about purchasing one. Even people that gave 4-5 stars complained of issues

This hisense (400sq foot , 12500BTU) is $199 (maybe lower some places) if you can find them.

A guy I went camping with had one of these hooked up to his tent at our campsite. We made fun of him till we sweat our butts off and they were wrapped in blankets.

Can I use this for a small office with no windows? Can direct the heat up into one of those tiles?
