I bought the TD-11k floor model For $600 6 months ago- the store wanted to move it to make way for the newer TD-17.
Not a fan of the rubber pads from the outset so I replaced them with mesh pads, much much better now.
I have also replaced the ride cymbal with a CY-12.
Because of the discounted price of the kit and the fact that I upgraded with slightly used pads, I have been able to tailor my kit to my liking.
Would not have been possible if I bought the more expensive KV kit.

Can not believe this is on sale now for $550 shipped!!

I used this kit in my studio for many years, sounds great, backing tracks are wonderful for practice.
Yes, the rubber pads aren't awesome, but they're not like the cheap, hard pads from toy kits either.
Well worth $550.

Is there a good source to learn how to play the drums? Would be interested in picking up another hobby

It is a discontinued model, but there may not be a better kit in the market for this sale price.
@domoarigato - If you don't want to use a local drum teacher, you can try two computer based training options – Melodics and Drumeo. Both charge a fee for subscription. Not cheap, but cheaper than a human instructor.

You are the source, my friend. Just start tinkering..play what makes you feel good and what sounds good. And have fun!

If you have a PS4 or PS3, get Rock Band (and MadCatz MIDI adapter) and you can play songs that way. You can also do this with XBOne or XB360, but an expensive adapter might be required.

It's not as good as taking lessons, of course, but you will pick up the basic techniques. And it's fun.

Same price 2 months ago for this discontinued product. Don't get antsy and let it ride lower in price.

Could you please elaborate on how you replaced your rubber pads with mesh? Thanks!
